Thanksgiving Preparations

The time is near.  The table is set.  The turkey is resting.  Even the fountain on the porch is dressed for Thanksgiving.  Thought I'd post a couple pictures before everything is over.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a very quick post to send Thanksgiving greetings to you all. Hubby has just finished making his delicious homemade cranberry sauce and a pumpkin pie.  He's trying a new for both recipe this year.  I'm most excited about the pie - turtle pumpkin pie this year - sounds dee-lish!

New Fabric!

My friend, Izzy, graciously gave me this lovely wool fabric.  Guess what?  It's Pendleton!  I haven't measured it yet, but I'd guess that there are about four yards - 30 or so inches wide. I'm not a very experienced seamstress and don't even know how this quantity of fabric can be used.  Do I dare take a chance on sewing something by myself?  Maybe I should find a professional.

New Purses - YEAH!

I have the best Hubby!  Guess what that darlin' did for me.  Well, a couple weeks ago, a girl at work, Carrie, told me about this place (A.K.A. a tent city in the bad part of town) that sells "designer" handbags really cheap.  She heard about it from her sister who goes a lot.  After seeing the cute Coach satchel that Carrie bought, I knew I just had to go.  I couldn't believe it when that dear Hubby of mine agreed to take me.  Of course he remained in the car - with the doors locked.  Ha!  Ha!  I bought a patchwork Coach tote that I plan on using to lug my work back and forth from school and a giraffe print Dolce and Gabbana with fuchsia trim.  Gorgeous!

Another Tour of Homes!

Yes, we went on another "subdivision search" today looking for ideas.  Today was a little different, though, because we went specifically to look at walkout basements.  It seems that so many of them we see are very dark and gloomy.  We don't like that one bit.  I snapped some photos of some very beautiful back views of walkouts.  Unfortunately, as you can tell by the pictures below, they are all WAY out of our price range.

We also made a return visit to the house below.  It's one that I posted here before.  We both like just about everything about it.  Not sure, but we believe the roof is metal.  What do you think? If you click on the photo, I think it will enlarge.

This time around, I remembered to get a shot of the back.  It's not a walkout, but I'm pretty sure that can be modified by an architect.  From the back, you can see that it's a two story.  We'd change that, too.

From the other end of the house you can see Hubby's favorite feature - the three car garage.  I think he'd change it to one double-door and one single, though.

I wanted to include this "little" gem, too.  Isn't it huge!  You have to drive under the archway to get to the detached three-car garage!  See it through the archway?  To the left of the arch is the attached garage!  CHA-CHING!

A Work In Progress

In my last post I mentioned that I was attempting to "pretty up" a lamp shade that I already had.  Although I am far from finished with it, I thought I'd post a couple shots of it today. Granted, it's not nearly as pretty as the one in Branson, but it's not costing me $100.00 either! If you enlarged the photo on my previous post, I'm sure you noticed the price tag!

A Beautiful Shop

This summer when we visited Branson, we happened upon a small shop that was right up my alley.  If I remember correctly, the name of this little shop was the Victorian House.  I had my iPhone, and was able to snap a few photos of some "pretties" that really caught my eye.  I thought the lamp in the photo above was amazing.
This is a picture of a gorgeous flower arrangement that I came oh so close to buying.  I have a friend who visits Branson quite often, and I'm considering giving her the money to pick it up for me on her next trip
Here's another lampshade that I adored.  When we returned home, I attempted to create something similar to this out of one of my own lampshades.  It's a work in progress, though. Whenever I finish, I'll post a photo.  Remember, you can click on any of these photos and they'll enlarge

Halloween Lunch!

Yesterday we picked up a freshly made pizza for today's lunch.  Papa Murphy's has been running commercials for something called a Jack 'o lantern pizza.  We brought one home and ate it today.  Isn't he cute?
